Voting is on...
Five cities have thrown their hat in the ring to host the 2010 Andar Users Group Conference. An e-mail went out last Monday to invite Yahoo and customer employees in our database to vote for their favorite location. The voting will be open until noon Monday May 11th.

You will need to login to the Andar support center to vote. If you forgot your password, click the "Forgot password" button on the web site. If you don't have a password, e-mail our help desk at AndarSupport@Andar360.com and include your full name, United Way name, position, and telephone number with the subject "Request password" and we will e-mail you one.

The choice of cities and their proposal summary can be found on the voting web page.

Each person can vote only once.

Lockbox By Special Request
It's back! Many customers have asked us, on request from their auditors, to be able to view older lockbox data. We've decided to put back the old lockbox menu option but it will only allow you to view the data. All new imports need to be loaded and processed through the new Andar Connector.

Free Demo Videos
Did you know that we have a number of streaming videos published on our web site? Learn about new features of Andar or brush up on some of the functions you already use.

Data In Crisis!
Everyone knows that database backups are essential. Also, everyone knows you should take your backup media off-site every day.

What many forget is that until you have actually tried to restore your database from your off-site tape or disk, you are really not sure if your backup actually worked!

We regularly find that some of you bring home blank tapes/disks, backup wrong directories, or when trying to restore your data while in a crisis, you find that the tapes are worn out and fail to read your backup files. By the way, tapes and disks do wear out so check with your manufacturer for a recommended replacement schedule.

Your restore procedures should be tested regularly (at least once a year), not only to ensure that your back up works but also to practice your recovery procedures so that you can bring your organization back in business quickly after a disaster.

PayPal Update
Many of you have received notification from PayPal that they will be upgrading their software and you will need to upgrade as well. Don't worry, we have already upgraded Andar to use their new updates and it has been delivered in this week's service pack.

Customers must install the Service Pack.
Otherwise, starting in September,
Credit Cards authorizations will fail!

Mass Delete From a Structure
This is the time when many of you are preparing the campaign structure for the new year. We have the ability to mass assign accounts to a node by warehouse, but we don't have the ability to mass "un-assign" accounts. Example, you can use a DMO to identify all of the accounts that have not pledged for several years and then you want to remove them from the structure, wherever they may be.

Here is an easy way:

  1. Put the accounts that you want removed from the campaign structure into a warehouse.
  2. Add a new, temporary node to the structure.
  3. Mass assign the warehouse of accounts to the new node. Check the 'Transfer Accounts if exist' box.
  4. Then delete the new node. When prompted, choose 'Delete Attachments'.
Step 3 will move all the accounts from whichever structure node they are in to the new temporary structure that you then delete.

Quote of the Week
There are 100,000,000,000 stars in the galaxy. That used to be a huge number. But it's only a hundred billion. It's less than the national deficit! We used to call them astronomical numbers. Now we should call them economical numbers.
