Everyone knows that database backups are essential. Also, everyone knows you should take your backup media off-site every day.
What many forget is that until you have actually tried to restore your database from your off-site tape or disk, you are really not sure if your backup actually worked!
We regularly find that some of you bring home blank tapes/disks, backup wrong directories, or when trying to restore your data while in a crisis, you find that the tapes are worn out and fail to read your backup files. By the way, tapes and disks do wear out so check with your manufacturer for a recommended replacement schedule.
Your restore procedures should be tested regularly (at least once a year), not only to ensure that your back up works but also to practice your recovery procedures so that you can bring your organization back in business quickly after a disaster.

Many of you have received notification from PayPal that they will be upgrading their software and you will need to upgrade as well. Don't worry, we have already upgraded Andar to use their new updates and it has been delivered in this week's service pack.
Customers must install the Service Pack.
Otherwise, starting in September, Credit Cards authorizations will fail!

This is the time when many of you are preparing the campaign structure for the new year. We have the ability to mass assign accounts to a node by warehouse, but we don't have the ability to mass "un-assign" accounts. Example, you can use a DMO to identify all of the accounts that have not pledged for several years and then you want to remove them from the structure, wherever they may be.
Here is an easy way:
- Put the accounts that you want removed from the campaign structure into a warehouse.
- Add a new, temporary node to the structure.
- Mass assign the warehouse of accounts to the new node. Check the 'Transfer Accounts if exist' box.
- Then delete the new node. When prompted, choose 'Delete Attachments'.
Step 3 will move all the accounts from whichever structure node they are in to the new temporary structure that you then delete.

There are 100,000,000,000 stars in the galaxy. That used to be a huge number. But it's only a hundred billion. It's less than the national deficit! We used to call them astronomical numbers. Now we should call them economical numbers.
