Interface to GL

Did you know that Andar does interface with most General Ledger systems? Just setup your key GL account numbers in Andar and automatically, Andar will assign these to transactions as they are processed. Then, monthly, you can export GL transaction summaries or details out of Andar and import them into your General Ledger.

Live United

Helix has created a "Live United" style sheet that you can apply to your e-community websites. This style is a beta version and will eventually be incorporated into the core of the software. For now, if you wish to try this new look & feel, it will need to replace your current UserPreferences directory if you have one setup already.

Careful!

Many customers make copies of their production Andar databases and use these for training staff. Careful! All settings and configurations also get copied. If you have the CCAP (credit card) module and donors have monthly credit card payments due, they will be automatically charged by both your production system and your training system. Similarly, if you have set up alert e-mails to be sent to staff, volunteers, or company representatives whenever a large gift is entered, this will also happen in your training system. Volunteers may also receive e-mails whenever a new matching opportunity is created in your training environment.

Patches

Please note that patches are not necessarily fixing bugs. In fact, many patches are there to release new functions to specific customers. Don't be alarmed by the number of patches released after a service pack... especially in the May-September time frame when many high-priority campaign related enhancements are requested and delivered through patches.

As you probably know, most of you use different functions of Andar in different ways. Bug fixes released in patches often apply to very specific conditions and therefore don't apply to most customers.

Patch availability announcements are not broadcasted to everyone mostly because the enhancements and bug fixes are intended for a small group of customers. Should a high-impact or pervasive patch be made available, we will then announce it to everyone. Note also that you typically do not need to install patches, you could wait and install the next service pack instead, service packs do contain all patches previously released.

Loyal Contributors

Many of you want to store the year that donors first gave. This is best stored as a date under the attributes tab of the donor's account. To ensure that everyone codes this the same way, patch 2008.02.02 of Andar includes a new system-provided "Loyal Contributor" date type that everyone can use. The age has also been added to the table listing all dates so you can add it to your dashboards to quickly see the number of years the donor has been giving.
