The Changing Workplace
As the workforce shifts from larger to smaller companies, it's becoming essential to focus workplace giving efforts on smaller organizations to reduce churn and engage the community. The challenge is making it easy and cost effective for the thousands of smaller companies to implement workplace giving. We are currently working on a project sponsored by the United Way of Allegheny County (Pittsburgh, PA) to allow smaller companies to register online to run an e-Pledge campaign. The project consists of a self-serve web page that will allow companies to quickly set up their campaign and start giving (subject to approval by the United Way). Phase 1 of this project is due for release in a mid-June patch.

Sending e-mails
Significant changes to e-mail management functions are coming in the next patch. We have improved and aligned the interaction between templates and the send e-mail functions to make it easier for customers to use. The "advanced" tab now supports a reply-to address, importance and sensitivity settings, as well as a BCC address.

We added a new "quick insert" function that allows predetermined text and attachments defined in templates to be quickly inserted into an e-mail. This feature will allow customers to predefine their communication paragraphs to provide consistent answers to common questions (a key ingredient to CRM).

All e-mail links throughout Andar will support the option to use your desktop e-mail client (eg. Outlook) or the Andar e-mail function. Just right-click the link to change your settings.

We've added personal preferences to set default "BCC" e-mail (great to send copies of all e-mails to yourself) and to set up your signature text.

Those customers with e-Community will also be able to use communication log entries to track when e-mail recipients have opened e-mails or clicked links within e-mails sent from Andar.

A communication summary function has also been added to bio tabs to list the details of the most recent communication log entries. This function will greatly enhance the MIG profile report.

Content Management
The next patch includes more enhancements to the content management functions of Andar. A new "Synopsis" tab has been added to articles to support a WYSIWYG overview or abstract text for articles. This function provides better formatting options over the "description" which is now reserved for internal meta tags only.

We added a new "sequence number" on articles to control the order of the articles in newsletters. We also added a new "Headline" variable that can be inserted into the newsletter or subscription subject line. This will be replaced by the title of the first article in the newsletter.

We created a new portlet type that allows a complete article to be displayed in the portlet space. Also, new conditions were added to portlets so that they can appear depending on whether the user is logged in or not, and depending on the specific article displayed.

Clicking on a link in an e-Mail will also go to the e-Community Suite web site and automatically set the recipient of the e-mail as the user of the web site. This is similar to automatic logins. All articles and web pages viewed will be recorded against that user although they have not logged in yet. If secure pages are accessed, they will be asked to login to confirm their identity.

Prospect and Plan Management
Prospects and Plans are being enhanced again thanks to feedback from various customers. Specifically, we have improved and simplified the workflow next/previous task creation. We have also created a new "Custom" plan type targeted for major gift constituents. This plan allows tasks to be individually selected from a list of predefined tasks.

We also added a priority field on prospects so that account managers can focus their attention on select prospects.

We improved the prospect and plan reports to omit completed items older than a specified number of days. The prospect reports where various numbers of days are specified now can be "snapped" to the end of the week, month, or year. This feature provides a consistent reporting mechanism for solicitors and managers. Projection calculations were also added to the forecast report.

e-Class: Mailing Lists, Mailing List Usages and Direct Mail tracking

e-Class: Data Mining for Analysis - Intermediate Level

Do you want to learn more about Data Mining? In this e-Class you will learn:

  • how to select and extract roll up information (ie. using the Parent/Subsidiary relationship)
  • two ways to extract designations (one row per designation vs. one row per donor)
  • how to populate a warehouse from a spreadsheet of accounts
  • when to use the 'Clear Selected Accounts' section
  • more about the AND/OR operators

Pre-Requisites: Novice level Data Mining class, or some experience with creating Data Mining Operations.

Target Audience: This class is appropriate for any staff person wanting to learn more about Data Mining.
